On January 10, the State Grid Northwest branch has successfully coordinated and finalized a long-term inter-provincial green power trading agreement. The agreement covers an initial annual capacity of 7.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) and spans from 2025 to 2029. This marks the largest inter-provincial green power transaction in the country, covering five provinces and regions in Northwest China.

The agreement involves the signing of intergovernmental power transfer agreements between Shaanxi-Gansu, Shaanxi-Qinghai, and Xinjiang-Qinghai, with a focus on prioritizing green power transactions. The State Grid Northwest branch continues to work with regional power companies to expand inter-provincial green power trading. In addition, the branch has stepped up efforts to promote green power and green certificates, mobilizing stakeholders to participate in long-term green power agreements. By developing cross-provincial green power trading plans and advocating for long-term agreements, the region has maximized the use of transmission resources, fostering greater alignment between energy producers and consumers in meeting green energy demand, laying a strong foundation for the deal’s success.

Looking ahead, the State Grid Northwest branch is committed to further enhancing coordination and balance across the region’s inter-provincial markets. It will continue to respond to growing demand for green power transactions, expand the scale of green power trading, and offer further guidance and support to market participants, thereby contributing to China’s green, low-carbon energy transition.
